| Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 | 4.3 |
| GallantmonX | Jun 12, 2005 |
THE GOOD: - Fun DBZ Game - Fusion is enabled - Cel Shaded graphics work well with it - Better CharactersTHE BAD: - Story really sucked - Some parts were too easy - Should have been longer SUMMARY: The second game in the legendary Dragonball Z saga, DBZ Budokai 2, isn't really all it hypes up to be. After being released a good while ago, it recieved a lot of hype just because it was yet another Dragonball Z game, but it isn't really that good to begin with.
First of all, lets start with the good things. The graphics, because it was cel-shaded, was an excellent plus when playing it. I think it fitted the game perfectly because it just overall looked better, seeing as how DBZ is a cartoon-ish game in the first place. other than that, the fighting was pretty solid. Like the first Budokai game, it featured the regular combo system where you would hit a few punch buttons and then hit the energy button which would have then done a special attack, but this one its better. Now you can also fuze your characters, which is another good plus becahse now you have the option of playing with some of your favorite fusion characters from the show itself.
On the other hand, there are quite a bit of bad aspects to this game. The story really, and I mean really sucked. I didn't quite follow it that much, since I was already used to playing the first one which actually had a story in which you could follow. Now for a sequel, you would expect this to be better, or at least longer than the first one. If you were expecting this, then you are so wrong. It seemed like it was just as short as its predecessor, and also, it just died out for a while because of its difficulty. I can honestly say that I had more trouble with the first game as opposed to this one.
All in all, despite the bad things about Budokai 2, I still think its a pretty solid game, and all DBZ fans should have it in their collection.

THE GOOD: -The charaters -Fusion!!! -Super buu abosbing -the costome -The ternoment is way easyerTHE BAD: -Needs more levels -the story thing makes no sense SUMMARY: This game has about everything a hard core dbz fan needs it's worth the monkey [it will be better if it was maybe 3 dollors off?]The game really has what you need attacks and i love the super spirt bomb thing, and what makes the game really really kool is that there is fusion!!! and it has mad(alot)Charaters!!!!! the attacks rock and you get all lots of costumes to pick out of [some have 3 mostly 2]this game is great for any dbz fan/fighting,and people out there that are lazy just like me they are cheats for this game it may take a while but it is worth it.This game really needs more levels in the duel like 13 not 7 or 8 and for majin buu fan's there's like 3 majin buu's fat, super, kid buu so for people out there get this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE GOOD: The graphics have improved alot being cel-shaded. THE BAD: Once again the Breakthroughs are way to hard/boring to do. SUMMARY: It's definitly an improvement to the first Budokai especialy graphics wise, I think the cel-shaded is way to cool. Also this game features fusions and super saiyan 3 Gotenks and Goku. There are way more levels and capsules to choose from too. The storyline is fun the first two or three times through but then after that it gets too repetetive and boring so getting the breakthroughs, Bulmas costumes and secret fusions are a nightmare, the storyline is basicly just a big board game too. Once again the music is ok but not brilliant. The storyline is mostly the same too but gone off course in some places. Overall i'd give this game about 90% as it is alot of fun and multi-player will keep you going for ages.

| yO mUMA from Adelaide, South Australia, | Aug 11, 2004 |
THE GOOD: One of many of the good things about the second game is that the stupid cutscenes have been removed, they were all in Japanese anyway, and there are more characters like Goten, Kid Trunks and Videl. And the graphics are better than the first time around because they look more like the show and last time they looked to real to be from the show.THE BAD: Now the computer characers are stupider and easier to beat. I thought that Kid Buu would be a challenge but he was a simple victory, even on the hardest setting. But this is probobly because I play this game all the time so I can see how long it takes me to collect all the capsules, but to a less than average player, Kid Buu would be a challenge on a low skill level. SUMMARY: In conclusion, Dragonball Z Budokai 2 is much better than the first one, but the computer AI could use an upgrade, but overall, Dragonball Z Budokai 2 is still one of the best fighting game out on the market this year. A must have for all Dragonball/Z/GT fanatics.

THE GOOD: Beautiful graphics, Detailed attackes and transformations, Great Gameplay, Good selection of charecters, Beautiful variety of attacks and skills, Damn near perfectionTHE BAD: Dragonworld is a little lame, And the fighting is kinda unrealistic, when a person gets hit nothing physically happens, with attacks like Big Bang and Father-Son Kamehameha, clothes should be ripped up and charecters should be bleeding, the stuff that is not letting the game be perfect
SUMMARY: All in all this games kicks some serious ass. Perfect for Dragonball Z lovers and Fighting game lovers alike. This games is WAY fun, can be played for hours on end, when i first got it i played non stop for like 4 days. There is also a little thing when fighting called a burst, when you get into a burst fight the background becomes all black and you and your opponent enter an all out brawl, burst's are what make a fight look awesome. All in All, if you are a Dragonball Zfan or a Fighting game fan i suggest you pick this game up.<br>I give it a 4 outta 5, just because there are those little imperfections. But dont let those imperfections fool you, they are minor ones and can easily be looked over when playing the game.

THE GOOD: -New characters from the Buu Saga -New moves -Ability to Fuse by Potara Earings or Dance, even Fake Fusions -Cool Story Mode -New Transformations -Better Graffics -New areasTHE BAD: -Story Mode is beatable in less than 2 hours SUMMARY: This game is by far better than the first. It tops it with all kind of new things to do and new things to see.
There are all kinds of areas that have special things that trigger when a special thing happens. Also new characters are playable including Fat Buu, Kid Buu, Dabura, even the older ones like Frezia.
The new ability called Fusion is playable in this game. Both Fusion types which are the Potara Earings and the Fusion Dance are useable. All kinds of Fusions can be made, though most a Fake or either aren't in the series.
New options are ready to be used, like Babidi's Spaceship, which is a place to fight multiple tests. or the training option, where you learn the basic and master abilities and controls.
Though this game seems great, if you are someone who will continue fighting over and over again, this is for you. This game gets boring easy after you defeat the Story Mode, which I bet in less than two hours.

| Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 | 4.3 |
| Ultimate Gogeta from Akatsuki HQ, , | Apr 22, 2004 |
THE GOOD: Great game for Dragon Ball Z fans. Improved graphics. Much better than its prequal. Now English dubbed. More characters to fight as. Better music.THE BAD:
Gets boring after a while. Collecting capsules becomes a drag. Ridiculous enemies that are a waste of time, and you don't get to play as them. No unlockable "side quests" unlike in the first one.SUMMARY: Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 is probably the best Dragon Ball Z game so far. This game has terrific gameplay, and will definitely last long. There are now more characters to fight as/against and they're alot stronger than they were in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai. The game now has the US voice cast dub the characters, so now you'll understand what the characters are saying, so you can say goodbye to subtitles.
The Skills Shop has improved, since now you'd know what capsules you're buying, instead of a pointless gamble everytime you enter the place.
This game does have its cons though. Collecting capsules can become a drag since it seems like an endless task. There are enemies you have to fight almost all the time, and you don't even get a chance to play as them.
Plus, there aren't any unlockable "side quests" unlike in the first Budokai, which is a slight disappointment.
Overall, I recommend this game only to Dragon Ball Z fans. It is best that you have played the first BUdokai first, before you play this sequel, but no one's forcing you. This game gets two thumbs up.

THE GOOD: Graphics and new charectersTHE BAD: same moves, stages,no story mode. SUMMARY: --When I first got this game I was so excited to play this, then when I was about to play i say how the graphics look & they were amazing,I had expected it to be lame because of the outlines like as if it had been drawn(cell-shaded). --As I started unlocking the charecters I saw that they had some cool finishers, transformations, & energy blasts.& they added some real cool finishers, like the move Trunks uses to kill Frieza,& I also noticied they gave some finishers to charecters that they never had used in the show, but could of defintly of used it( Ex:Cell's Spirit Bomb) --As I deeper into unlocking the moves & charecters I noticed that they took out some charecters (like kid Gohan)& even some of my favorite moves like the masenko.I also noticed that some of the stages you play at stinks, like they had only one type of island and it was cheesey. One thing I noticed right away was that almost everybody had the same moves, but they were just named different. They could have improved the game alot. --Well I'm not saying that this game is good or bad, or that you should run out to buy it,but if you are a DBZ fan I think you'll like this game. --Thats it for this review I hope it helps you out alot.

Dragon mode is fun, cuz u get to change up the story, but theres absoulty no cut sceens!! Also theirs kewl new costumes, but some suck. GREAT FUSIONS!!!!!!! and the buu's are fun characters. Great Game, a must buy!

| axman from Lomita, CA, USA | Mar 19, 2004 |
THE GOOD: really good graphics better characters more worlds and characters better supports capsules and moves able to use dragon balls a much easier way to use moves like kamehameha, galick cannon, more able to use more moves thats more powerful than there regular one, like victory cannon, atomic blast easier way to dodge attacks able to get super buu to use absortionTHE BAD: no movies, just the voice moves that are based on luck(potaras, final bash etc) enemies can dodge your move(kamehameha, vanishing ball) board mode can get annoying, like getting battled on a lose health zone it takes alot more than one kill to kill an enemy(in Dragon mode) stopping that egg from hatching is hard need to be in low health to become majin vegeta not being able to play as, or fight all the androids(seriously, in budokia 1 you cant play, fight as android 20, legacy of Goku 2, Android 16, this game Android 19) SUMMARY: this is like any other game with DBZ except better, you can play as more characters too, its in board mode in Dragon mode, if you bump into a enemy, you fight, if you bump into a comrade, you either power up or power down, or both. You always have Goku on the board, and you choose an ally, like gohan or krillin, and you can do fusions use breakthroughs, skills are more expensive, but you can find zenie on the board, or win the world tournament. and the game doesnt give you your skills for battle, you choose, press R1 and you can edit skills that you bought or earned

| Amar Miletic from Somerville, Massachusetts | Mar 13, 2004 |
THE GOOD: It has more characters such as Buu, Goten, Kid Trunks, Android #20, etc. Also you can turn into SS3 and do fusions.THE BAD: Dragon World. It is not like Story Mode in the first one. Dragon World is like a board game and you have to beat everyone like a million times. SUMMARY: Well, DragonBall Z Budokai 2 is an awesome game. Way better than the first one. I do not like DragonBall Z, but the game is cool. I like how you can turn Super Saiyan 3 with Goku and Gotenks. Also how they have Majin Buu, Super Buu, and Kidd Buu. If I were you, I would recommend this game for one of the hottest games for 2004. So if you are stuck on what game to buy I would suggest Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2.

| Adventure seeker from Truth or consequences New Mexico | Feb 20, 2004 |
THE GOOD: Looks like it came right out of the show, Has a somewhat updated roster, and special moves look cool as h*ll!THE BAD: Dragon mode can get a little boring after a while, but otherwise is still a fun mode! SUMMARY: I have to admit, i've never been a big Dragonball Z fan. I'm still not! But this is one of the best fighting games i've ever played! This is up there with games like street fighter and mortal kombat as far as combat goes, and it is even more impressive visually. I don't know much about the series as far as story goes, but I still found the story of this game pretty cool! So even if you don't like the Dragonball Z cartoon (like me) I would still recommend this game to anyone interested in the fighting genre!

| DBZ: Budokai 2 Review by MLD | 3.0 |
| ManhuntPS2 | Feb 14, 2004 |
I was very excited when I knew that Budokai 2 was going to be released in 2003. And from what I had seen during the year looked promising. The screen shots and video clips showed great graphics and the sound effects were nice to hear. They also seemed to pay close attention to the DBZ storyline with the characters and their look/attacks. But they didn't seem to update the fun of the game. Sure I'm not a huge fighting fan but this game became boring after three days of playing. Where the story mode in Budokai 1 was fun and interesting to play a few times, the Dragon Mode became boring after completing it three times. And in order to unlock all the special capsules you would need to complete Dragon Mode over 40 times!! And the average time to finish Dragon Mode is about three hours a completion. Don't get me wrong, Dragon Mode was a blast the first time playing though it. Having to use certain characters in battles to unlock other characters was a nice touch. And the board game feel was okay, it was different than the tournament mode so that made it fun for a while. But after doing Dragon Mode three times I had to use the capsule cheat to unlock the remaining capsules that I couldn't buy or were only available by using the Dragon Balls. And Kid Buu is by far the cheapest boss in any fighting game that I've ever seen! On any difficulty level he's a major pain! And Bulma is just as annoying as Mr. Popo was in Budokai 1. I had to mute my TV when buying capsules because Bulma would say the same thing over, and over, and over. At least in Budokai 2 you can have different pics of her to look at when entering the shop. That's a nice touch. All and all, the only reason I purchased this game was because I'm a diehard DBZ fan. This game is a rental at best for anyone who doesn't enjoy the DBZ storyline or it's characters. I really need to stop handing out fifty bucks to Atari until they make a DBZ game that fighting fans and DBZ fans can enjoy at the same time. Presentation The game is fun to play for a few days, or the time of one rental from your favorite video game store. Dragon Mode is fun a few times that you finish the whole story, but after that it seems like a job. Babidi's spaceship is fun, since you can unlock characters and capsules there. They also have fun two player games in the ship as well. World Tournament is fun like in Budokai 1, except the fighters can be really cheap sometimes. 8/10 Graphics Compared to Budokai 1, these graphics are beautiful to look at. The lighting on the energy attacks look like they came from the anime. The characters themselves look just like the anime figures, with the drawing style look that they have. The stages are great to fight on and when you send another fighter into a mountain or a building it's fun to watch. 10/10 Sound The music is nice to listen to on most of the levels. But I'm not a fan of most music for a fighting game. You need to use music to set a mood while playing, and I can't seem to find a game with the perfect music to fight against someone with. 7/10 Gameplay This game is very easy to play. Most attacks are simple to learn and the characters almost have the same attack movements so you won't have to learn a bunch of button commands. The only character that can be hard to fight against is Super Buu or Kid Buu. But the rest of the characters seem to fight cleanly. Fusions are great to see and to play with. Especially Super Buu and his six absorptions. Vegito and Gotenks are simply fun to use and are very powerful. Gokule and Tiencha are great to laugh at. The only real downside is Dragon Mode. It just isn't fun after you finish it a few times. 7/10 Lasting Appeal If you love fighting and DBZ then this game will be used in your household a lot. But while I'm a huge DBZ fan, the game wasn't very fun after a few days. I even tried some two player action with my brother and it still seemed like a chore instead of fun. But I wasn't a huge fighting fan, except for Street Fighter on the SNES. I played that game forever, lol. Between the Dragon Mode, World Tournament, and the Space Ship area, the game has some lasting appeal. But to me, it's a rental at best. 6/10

THE GOOD: Thank god! English! It's been a major improvement over the last game (understanding!)...the graphics were fantastic and the moves were very DBZ-y.THE BAD: They ruined the point of having English speech with corny lines and moderately boring story mode equivalent. Having the Dragon world really destroyed the fact it was a DBZ game for me because nothing was alike. I don't mind anything particularly but it was a let down. SUMMARY: Many improvements over the last game but many dissapointments came hand-in-hand. I did put Dragon World in the bad but only because it had nothing to do with the DBZ story and made little sense. The English seemed great at first but was a let down as the game went on. I don't regret buying it but I'm not gonna be playing it much.
For a hardcore DBZ addict or an action game lover.

THE GOOD: The graphics are a big improvement from the first and the characters are mirror images of their anime selves, actual voices included.THE BAD: The storyline warps that of the anime & some cool characters like Garlic Jr or Brolly are missing. SUMMARY: I think the game deserves more credit since it's pretty interesting. GT is rather dull, and with the conclusion of the Z series, the anime was losing appeal. This game brought it all back in an instant. The case had me addicted at GameStop! The opening anime cinema was superb (although i'm questioning Vegeta's browning hair.. does that signify his approach to super saiya-jin?). You've got everybody, Gokou, Piccolo, Goten, Videl, EVERYBODY. The list goes on. The game has something for everyone. The voices were right from the anime too, which helped made the first play through the game an eye popping awe-fest. Techniques, item equips, and the big thrill - fusions. Gotenks and Vegeto top the charts obviously, and there's more glee in being them than watching them. But don't get me wrong, watching is game is fun too. Each character is vividly represented in all their glory, despite their shrinking usefulness in the anime. They even threw in the hyper mode similar to Hyper Dimension, and the ki deflect/clashes from Super Butoden on SNES. I mean, you can pick their outfit, customize them according to your preferences, and whip out some neat combos. Atari has now become, in my mind, a top game comany - on par with heavyweights like Squaresoft (err..Square Enix..)and Capcom, and I'd say majorly due to this release! Of course, there are the downfalls like no jumping, a poor storyline that warps the anime's, and a few missing characters that deserve some spotlight.

THE GOOD: I love this game! There is almost no defects with this game,You can't hate this game,i expect almost everyone to be playing this game well into the next Dbz game or Dbgt.THE BAD: Well,it gets a little repetitive, having to play dragon world over 50times to get all breakthrough and fusions SUMMARY: Don't let the bad things get you down, who cares, all you friends are probally jealous about you having it,i know mine are,its really cool, all the fusions,5 actually, gotenks is cool, super buu's absorbtion is one of the highlights,Going super saiyan three is so cool, and remember back on budokai 1 when you transform it drains ki,well now you don't have to worry about that with something called angels halo, this is one of the number 1 video games probally ever invented,Babidi's ship is really cool, playing volley ball with a Ki blast!!!,and i used to do that for fun with my friend on budokai 1,well enjoy the game,i know i will, well Happy Gaming!

THE GOOD: This game is great. It is filled with many hours of fun playing. They have most of the charcters that are on the Dragonball Z shows, and were on. You can play as most of your favorite charcters. It also is a little bit challenging at some parts which makes it fun.THE BAD: There is not really to much mad to this game. The only problem I can really think of is you still can't really fly. SUMMARY: Well I would get this game. It is a great game which has a cool story mode. You can't beat getting the dragonballs and then wishing for some cool things. This game has fusions that aren't really even in the show. If you like the show then you will like this game. The graphics are pretty cool. It has a different look then most games. It is also fun to use the stage as a weapon. Knocking someone through a wall, or starting an avalance. It is all fun.

THE GOOD: This Game is the best I have ever played. The graphics are awesome, gameplay is intense and you could play this every day. It is really challenging to get all the characters including all fusions and breakthroughs. The Dragon Mode isn't the only thing you can play. There's Duel (you can challenge friends),World Tournament which is now multiplayer and there is Babidi's spaceship so you can unlock Daboura,Majin Buu, Super Buu, Kid Buu, Super Buu's absorbtion and on the way get all the skills you can!!! THE BAD: What can I say?! Oh yeah! The last stage wher you have to defeat Kid Buu is extremely difficult and to get all the breakthrough's is tough! Plus to even get the Dragon Balls is a total nightmare! SUMMARY: The gameplay is really good, especially if you're looking for a game that won't take you 30 mins to comeplete. It is just a superb game and you use the potara's to fuse! There's Gokule, Tiencha and Kibito Kai! It is so good. I reccomend this to DBZ Fans across the globe. You won't want to stop playing.

| Guticb from Fort Worth, TX, USA | Dec 31, 2003 |
THE GOOD: This game has EXCELENT graphics, 35 total characters (including fusions and potaras)This game goes all the way from the Raditz saga to the Kid buu saga.Another good thing is that this game unleashes Gotenks, Vegito, and SSJ3 (Super Saijan 3)Goku.By the way that is how Saijan is officially spelled. Also the breakthrough capsules r very easy to get. THE BAD: I'm going to list these in order from the best to worst.
1.This game is a lot different from the episodes because it is not in orderly fashion like the episodes. For Example Since when in the episodes can the Great Saiyaman face off against Raditz???
2.Since when can you use Kid Trunks as soon as u begin?
For example Since when does kid trunks appear in Vegeta saga??
3. DRAGONWORLD!!!
4. No cut scenes!
5.Fusions/potaras cant be used outside their own stages where you got them
6.Kid Buu was made too strong while Cell (unlike in Budokai) was made way too weak
7.You can't fuse in the World Tournament mode.
8.When you get to 99% worth of capsules it becomes impossible to find 1 that you don't already own SUMMARY: I will now list all the characters and fusions.
SAIJANS Goku Teen Gohan Adult Gohan (Gohan) Goten Kid Trunks Adult Trunks (Trunks) Vegeta Nappa Raditz HUMANS (for some weird reason great saijaman is considered human)
Krillin Tien Yamcha Great Saijaman Hercule Videl ALIENS Piccolo Recoome Captain Ginyu Frieza Supreme Kai Dabura Majin Buu Super Buu Kid Buu ANDROIDS #16 #17 #18 #20 (Dr.Gero) Cell FUSIONS Gotenks- Goten + Trunks Fusion dance Tiencha- Tien + Yamcha Fusion dance Vegito- Goku+ Vegeta Potara Earrings KibitoShin- Supreme Kai + Kibito
Note. with kibitoshin, all you need is Supreme kai equipped with that fusion. GoKule- Goku + Hercule
I hope my review helped you.

THE GOOD: Graphics, sound, animation, story line and challenge.THE BAD: too complicated for little kids SUMMARY: Dbz budokai2 is much better than the first 1 coz this one atleast u play with goku and u can move around the level and fight who ever u want and when ever u want. the first praticly forces u to continue with the story but the first budokai had much more sence , they mixed budokai2 with cell saga and frieza's wich was not correct but it's a lot of fun and there's challenge and new charecters.

THE GOOD: -Graphics for sure, cel-shading looks much nicer. -More Characters and more Moves -Multiplayer Tournament -Better Features (push-back, etc.) -More Difficult to beat, the first one was far too easy.THE BAD: -Story Mode accuracy according to manga/tv -The annoying Tournament Announcer -Lack of movie characters -Why do Cell and Frieza come back 3 times? It makes no sense -the 7 button combo required for Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack (and then having to get your bar full by spinning analog... -_-) SUMMARY: Fusion-HA! Damn im glad they finally added the fusions. and being able to absorb your opponent is hilarious. graphics kicked some serious ass. the first game was way the hell too easy, good thing they made me play for more than 20 minutes to beat the damn thing. They gave it a way better Multiplayer mode now too bad they dont have 2-4 players for Dragon World. Good Game. 4.5/5.0 d( )b

| Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 | 5.0 |
| tomtaru from , , | Dec 27, 2003 |
THE GOOD: The graphics, the opening song, the improved gameplay, etcTHE BAD: Some characters didn't make it like spopovitch and yamu
SUMMARY: Idee for Dragonball Zbudokai 3: The characters from the movies such as cooler, broly, those biomechanical creatures dr willow, Toma, bardock, etc the characters like spopovitch, yamo caroni and piroshki could also be added.
This game is so good, hardly any bad things to say. The problem with the previeus Dragonball Z Budokai was that the big attacks could'n be stopped (we used to hate echother for doing those attacks but not anymore now we can partly stop them.
hope they mace a good next one I'll be the first one to buy it and make my friends disapear in a green smoke(again).
Thanks for reading this review, hope you liked it.

| Christopher King from Verizon | Dec 24, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Excellent graphics, great overall selection of fighters and new fusion fighters.THE BAD: Story Mode has been replaced with a terriable reinactment of the DBZ saga called Dragon World Mode. Also it is much more difficult than the first. SUMMARY: The first DBZ Budoaki was a much better game then DBZ Budokai 2 but the second installment fixes some of the problems with the first. The better graphics engine and new fighters are top notch but they should have left it at that. The Dragon World Mode is an overly boring boardgame that takes too long and is not that intertaining(No cut scenes! The horror!). But it is still the best DBZ game on the market. A must have for fans of the first game and the television series. Kid Buu total rocks!

| Drew Gooden from Nampa, ID, United States | Dec 24, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Cel-Shaded Graphics are great for the series; More Characters and more moves; better animationTHE BAD: DRAGONWORLD.....and DRAGONWORLD. Too long and too boring. SUMMARY: Dragonball Z Budokai 2 is one of my favorite games to play. I find it a lot better than the first game. You have over 30 characters to choose from, with some characters having the ability to fuse with others. New characters include Goten, Gotenks, all the Buu's, Dabura, and more. Babidi's spaceship is a great addition to the game. It allows you to battle against your friends and unlock characters. Dragonworld is the only downside. You go through each saga on a board game, which can take upwards of 3 hours. There are no cutscenes to break up the action either.....Overall though, Budokai 2 is a must for any Dragonball Z fan.

THE GOOD: gfx - best ive ever seen in any DBZ game challenging - much more to unlock and harder to beat than the other DBZ games (for example DBZ - Legacy of Goku i beat in 2 and half hours) Wide varety of charactersTHE BAD: not much variety in character moves - theres about 40 or 50 different moves that are all the same with different names no Brolly(Brolli), Cooler(Metal Cooler), or any other guys from movies (Brolli is my fave!!!) Not much replay value - only about 3 diff ways to play through the game, and you have to beat Dragon Mode about 30 times to complete the game completely SUMMARY: DBZ Budokai 2 is one of the best games I've ever played. But of course, all games have thier downside. I think the biggest problem is that there are no characters from the movies in this! I mean, DBZ Taiketsu has Brolly(Brolli) atleast! And these came out at the same time so i see no need to leave him out. The sounds are also a little annoying. I mean, once you've heard Kamehameha 10 times in a row it gets kinda annoying. (talkin about mainly Kid Buu in story mode here, i hate him >: () On the good side, the best GFX in almost any fighting game I've played, and definately the best GFX in any DBZ game ever. Theres also plenty to unlock, but annoying to play through Dragon World 30 or more times to unlock everything. The fuzions are also really fun. There are even 3 or 4 secret fuzions! The downside to this is, that you can fuse when your battling the person that you need to fuse with. For example, you can fuse Gotenks when you battling against Goten. Overall, this is a really good game that I highly suggest to play. Go DBZ! Booya!

THE GOOD: +Looks gorgeous (unlike the first)
+Nice treat for dbz fans.THE BAD: -....everyone else should stay away.
-Not enough startagy.
-Mash, Mash, Mash.
-Plays to much like thr first one.....
-...which didn't play very good.
-All the characters are the same!? WTF?!
-Why bu this when you could buy games like VF4?
-Only a kindergartener will find this game hard. SUMMARY: Wow....another dbz game....joy. Well, after the lackluster DBZB. Atari has abought out infogames, which gave people new hopes for B2. Well to be honest, besides the lack of story mode, this game is about the same as in predocessor. Same controls, smae clunky pshyics, same limited control. Now, B2 does feature some pretty smmoth controls, and it's nice eye candy as well. DBZ fans should love it but...nobody else will. It's a good DBZ game, NOT a good fighting game.
The new Drago world mode when compared to the last on'es story mode...sucks. No more episode inspired cut-scenes or mini games, now you have to go over a map and fight enemies over and over in a very tedious manner...that's right, you're basically playing a BOARD GAME.
Now the meat of every fighting game is it's multiplayer. And this multiplayer is lackluster if there ever was one. Since the fighting is basically seeing how can do moves the fastest, (no dodging, no crouching or any other strategic moves.) so get ready to play a with a freind and attack at random!
One thing I find hilarious about the game is that....all the characters are the same. The big guys are just as fast as the small guys, and the small guys are just as strong as the big guys. the specail moves do about the same amount of damge depending on the type, and the game just lacks ALL character viriaty. 20+ characters? No, basically one , with 20+ changable skins.
The only reason why I don't give this game the lowest score possible is becuase it can be mindless fun. But if you're looking for a goodm fighting game....you won't find it here.

THE GOOD: More Characters,Dont have to start collecting the skills all over again,FUSION,more Options, better fights, sound, and much more harderTHE BAD: Should of kept with the graphics from the first one,Too complicated Gameplay, and nothing else SUMMARY: Really good game with much more features such as fusion and what ifs.Not many people will like it if not a DBZ fan. The sound though is excellent!! more characters...30 something I beleive. Multiple player action and much better characters including Buus,Dabura, and Dr.Gero.Even messup fusions like Fat Gotenks are included. One Major addition to goku Super Saiyan3!!!Majin Vegeta here too.More health for the major characters like bosses that makes more sense cuz I doubt Raditz and Buu would have the same health. No story mode but its ok because now there is dragon mode. You can even fight for dragonballs. The first thing you should do is buy babidis spaceship and work on getting Buu with the DragonBalls. Over all this a great game and even if you are not a DBZ fan its worth a try!!

THE GOOD: the fights, the beam struggles, the fusions, the characters, the storyline, the new capsules. everything is good and its the best game this year for my opinion its long which i like long games especially the Moves!!! there so cool new attacks, new death moves,ne Ultimate-Attacks i give this a 10 out of 10!!!THE BAD: The dragonworld,no cut-scenes in dragonworld, the rest is all good for me which is fine. SUMMARY: this is the best game i ever seen!!! the graphics! the characters! the Capsules! the StoryLine! The Death Moves,Ultimate Moves! this is one of the greatest games i ever seen this year way to go Atari!!! i am sure All DBZ fans will be really impressed!! and new beam struggles! The Fusion is one of the coolest features too! i seen one of goku and hercule, one with tien and yamcha,Vegeto,Gotenks,Fat Gotenks, which will be cool it also features new forms! SSJ1,SSJ2,SSJ3! which is aloowed to Gotenks and Goku, Plus with Majin Vegeta! which is a powerful form! and much more you can have the past characters from budokai 1 and Videl! Buu ofcourse of all of his forms, bosses get 2 extra life bars which makes it more challenging! all of this features are good and it'll be realeased in a few days! so wait up DBZ Fans were going to wait for a few days and were going to get DRAGONBALL Z BUDOKAI 2!!!!

| Dragonball Z Budokai 2 A Good Game For DBZ Fans. | 4.0 |
| imatramp from A Box, Essex, England | Nov 22, 2003 |
THE GOOD: The fights, Better graphics, longer game life, more charcters, more and better moves, more costumes. THEY SPOKE IN ENGLISH!!!THE BAD: too long, charcters are hard too get, some costums are not good to look at or have not been in the dragonball z episodes, dragonworld!! SUMMARY: the fights are better, but completing the game fully is long because to get the breaktoughs for all 29 charcters you need to beat the long dragonworld 29 times as well as getting a few other things....
worst of all to get charctes you need to beat them with certan people so if you accidently beat them with someone else you have to go though dragonworld again and again...
Ther are more levels as well as more charters to play with as well as going futher into the storyline, while missing some out...
But all together it is a brillient game where i can't wait for the next one...

THE GOOD: Graphics, Animations, Moves, Gameplay, Life-Span
Actual English/US Character Voices (mostly)THE BAD: Mmmmmm....mmmmm ill think of one at least. An actual story mode from Saiyan to final saga would have been gr8 & maybe few more moves/move slots. SUMMARY: The game is almost a perfect re-creation of the dragonball phenomena to date (basically its the best DBZ game ever) Graphics are perfect characters look AMAZING there is no collision detection problems which plaque the "WWE games" the fighting and character animation is top notch characters move, speak and perform taunts just like they wud in the cartoon Atari have done a gr8 job on re-creating the DBZ world and the characters charicteristic. Inclusion of new moves such as SS2 - SS3 - Fusion & new re-animated moves gives it an added new look
Sound is brilliant almost ALL the characters have there actual US/UK voice overs which is a real improvement over the horrid and annoying jap voices in Budokai 1, also the SFX have been re-worked, voices, moves and arena sound effects sound alot more precise and crisp compared to budokai 1.
As for gameplay what can i say it is nearly flawless it is one of the first fighting games to REALLY involve you as the player in the fighting with easy to difficult but rewarding combos to fusion codes and anolog charges - simple things but really give the fights depth.
Final thing ive got to mention is the lifespan most fighting games are pritty much short lived, Buokai 1 was on of the first fighting games friends told me took them longer than 2 days or a week to complete and Budokai 2 once again takes it once step better than its predosessor. Firstly the Story mode replacement Dragonworld is probably twice maybe 3times longer than story mode from Bk.1. From there you have an unbeleivable amount of moves to unlock through buying and earning. As for hidden characters Budokai 2 must have the most unlockable characters in a fighting game to date there are LOADS!
Closing comments
If your a fan of Dragonball z then there is no question about it this game is for you, if you like the first game then same goes for you and even if your not a DBZ fan but are a fighting game fan you gotto check this out you maybe surprised. WELL DONE ATARI - the effort they've put in the game shows THQ should take a page from there book for Smackdown 6.

THE GOOD: Everything, the grapgics, gameplay, moves, fusions, the fact that it is in english,THE BAD: This game has nearly no flaws getting the dragonballs is cool but more difficult than budokai 1 the sagas are cool but it is harder to get the extra characters what the hell do you mean beat super buu (after absorbing gohan) with bloody hercule HERCULE what were you thinkng all that for videl SUMMARY: The game is perfect wouldn't change a thing perhaps a few more fusions just for fun and every character could have joint attacks like teen gohans Father Son Kamahamaha but the graphics are top notch and the fighting is dammed amazing i personnally love this game and would recommend it to anyone the difficulty is hard but use your head and you will succeed all new ss2 transformations and of course ss3 gotenks and Goku the gameplay is nearly the same as budokai 1 but the fusions in the game are vegitto, gotenks, Gocule, and Teincha THAT IS ALL THERE ARE NO EXTRA but still F***ing Cool yeah i said cool.
